New editor-in-chief appointed to ‘Sinister Saints’ imprint

Horrified Press would like to formally announce Rich Dodgin as the new editor-in-chief of our YA imprint ‘Sinister Saints’.
He’s looking forward to carrying on the good work started by Suzie Lockhart and Bruce Lockhart 2nd, and to take this imprint in a new direction… Let’s find out a little more about him…

I’m an Edinburgh based fiction writer and music journalist.

For my own fiction, I like to play around with ideas that change the way the world works and how people have to live within in, so my stories often have elements of science fiction, horror, or satire in them. My short stories and flash fiction have been published in a number of places including Horrified Press, Cease Cows online literary magazine, Back Hair Advocate, and Chupa Cabra House.

I enjoy reading contemporary fiction, horror, and science fiction – and particularly like writing where the author isn’t afraid to try something new – in terms of subject matter, style, or presentation. Favourite authors of mine include Mark Z. Danielwski, W.G. Sebald, Jeff Vandermeer, Craig Clevenger, Steven Dines, and Steven Hall.

I’m really into music, and when I’m not writing fiction I write for an online rock and metal zine – reviewing albums and gigs, and interviewing bands. I listen to pretty much most rock music, but my favourite genre is thrash metal – in particular those bands from the 80’s and 90’s Venice Beach thrash / crossover scene, such as Suicidal Tendencies, Beowulf, Excel, No Mercy, and Uncle Slam.

As the editor for Sinister Saints I’m looking for Young Adult horror, science fiction and fantasy stories that engage, move, and surprise the reader – addressing the typical themes of YA fiction, but with distinctive dark, edgy or fantastical slants.
