Blood in the Cogs — A steampunk anthology! Terror in the time of Victoria! There was a lot going on during that long reign of hers. (Don’t send me ALL Jack the Ripper stories! Let me clarify–I don’t mind a mention of the Ripper, after all, he was the big news of the day. I just don’t want only stories about that one case. There were other horrors of the age…)

A god has risen. An elder god of chaos. A god that the Dark Land of Egypt once knew. A frog headed abomination that dwells–where? In the gloom of the collective unconscious? In the crazy depths of the internet? In the minds of conspiracy theorists and muddle minded political fanatics? As insubstantial as a dream–or a nightmare. In a world increasingly fragmented, where right and left, atheism and religion, sanity and lunacy struggle for supremacy, who is the true manifestation of KEK?

Are the anthologies not listed as “full” still taking submissions?
Hi David,
That’s correct. Lots open right now. 🙂
Thanks.
Will you make a notice when these anthologies close to submissions?
Does this anthology (splatterpunk) consider reprints?
Hi Edward,
Please mark your submission as a reprint (citing where it originally appeared) for the editor’s consideration.
Hi
Lulu sent me the wrong book in the mail. It was supposed to be “Malevolent Mansions…” but it was a totally different book. Do you know what their refund policy is like?
Hi David,
Raise a ticket with them and they’ll send you a new copy free of charge. Must be to do with the Xmas rush. 🙂
Hi
Okay. How exactly do I “raise a ticket with them”?
Hi David,
Just click on the ‘Support’ tab and they’ll guide you through the process automatically. 🙂
Hi
I sent them a complaint and they are now processing it.
Hi! New to horrified press with interest most certainly piqued. Am I correct in assuming that the submission deadlines end at 12:00 Am on the date of or do they run until 11:59pm on the date of?
Hi,
All submission windows end at midnight EST.
Also are all of you word limits firm or are we allowed to go over a bit?
Please check with the appropriate editor first before sending your submission. If they are happy with it then that’s fine. 🙂
What is the word count for the “Crossroads” anthology? It says “flash fiction”, but 5000 words isn’t “flash” as most people determine it.
Apologies. It should have read 500 words.
Thank you.

Interested in Barbarian Crowns II. What sort of timeframe are we looking at? My story is about half completed, just looking at a rough deadline.
Thanks in advance,
Stan.
Hey Stan,
We’re about 30% full already on this one. At the moment I’d say that you should look to submit before September end. 🙂
Thanks for the quick reply; now I am really motivated to complete my tale!
Cheers all.
Any word on publication date for Barbarian Crowns II ?
Any word on the status of Ad Nauseam: A Return to Splatterpunk? I tried e-mailing T.M. McLean, but haven’t received a reply. I’ve submitted a story, but I don’t know if it has been accepted/rejected or even received.
Hi,
I’ll contact the editor and find out ☺
It’s been over a month and I still haven’t heard anything. I really would like to know what’s happening with this. If this anthology isn’t going forward I would like to submit my story elsewhere, but I’d like to give this one a chance before I do that.
Hey,
Apologies for the late reply, but we have been unable to contact this editor. If this project doesn’t move forward by November end then I will be putting out the call for those already accepted to re-forward their contracts and pieces directly to me, so that the book can be completed for an Xmas release. It wouldn’t be an ideal scenario, but I would like to see this book completed for all concerned.

My story Forcing the Bar at Maracaibo was accepted for Bottle of Rum back in January of this year. However, I see it listed above as having been accepted for another anthology entitled Moment by Moment. I’ve twice made enquiry of the editor in this regard but have received no reply. What gives?
Hi Morgan,
Thanks for the info. We’ll make sure that your story appears in the correct anthology upon release, as specified in your contract: Bottle of Rum.
Is “Detectives of the Fantastic” available for sale now?
Hey David,
‘Detectives of the Fantastic’ will be available from September 30th – in time for the Halloween season. 🙂
Any update on release of “Mightier than the Sword”?
Hey,
All Full Moon Books titles are priority right now – so it will be soon. First to arrive will be ‘Supernatural’ in November…
Are you still looking for submissions for Barbarian Crowns II? It’s still listed here but I don’t see it mentioned on the Current Acceptances page. Thanks!
Hey Zach,
We’re still taking subs for this so send it on through. 🙂
Stupid question: If Barbarian Crowns is still open, the world that the stories take place in should be referred to as the Southlands? Or was that an example? Lol
The South-lands is purely an example. 🙂
I was wondering how full the Thirteen O’clock Press “Alone” is. I have a poem that might fit, but I still have some edits to make. If it’s going to be closed soon I might not have time to finish.
Thanks!
Send it through when it’s done, K.R. This one is a while away from completion.
Are stories still being accepted for “More Tales from the Blue Gronk Cafe’?”
Hi,
Message the editor for this one to check. As far as I’m aware it is still open. 🙂
Best
Nathan
Nathan,
Thanks for such a quick response. I’ve e-mailed Dorothy Davies.

Are the anthologies listed with a Jun. 5 closing date definitely going to close on those dates, or is their a potential for them to be extended?
Is the “Bronies” anthology going to close tomorrow, or will it still be open beyond that date?
Is there a preferred minimum word count for the “Ashes” anthology from Thirteen o’clock Press?
Hey G.E. Smith,
There’s no minimum word count for this one, but I would expect a short story to at least run to 2000 words – as an average (non flash fiction). 🙂

Will there be more detailed submission guidelines posted for “Blue Gonk III”? I know the editor’s name (James Pyne), preferred genre (dark/horror), and the word count (500). What I don’t know: story formatting details, submission deadline, and how to word the e-mail ‘Subject’ line Thanks!
For “Fantastical Savannahs and Jungles”, and in general, does your request for a period of exclusivity also apply to reprints (e.g. from books that are still in print)?
Hi,
Our period of exclusivity doesn’t apply to reprints.
